Home Office: One Room Challenge Week 1 – Mood board

Home Office: One Room Challenge Week 1 – Mood board

It is time for the One Room Challenge and I have decided I am participating again. I will be making over my Home Office. I spend the majority of my days in this room and it has not been working for me. Like a typical parent, I have left my spaces for last. I want a room that is inviting, cozy ,and moody.

Office History

The office from when I bought my home in August 2019 through September 2021.

Original Plan and inspiration:

My design choice was not an easy one. For months my mind was set on dark blue built-ins, checkered floors & roman clay walls. Beautiful for sure, but my problem all along was that my office was not feeling it. Anytime I work on a room I let it speak to me. I sit on the plans until I feel the connection. Before I show you my final plan, let me show you the original one and inspiration for built-ins.

Final plans and inspiration:

Now for the final plan, I was already determined to go with the plans above until 3 days ago when I found a post on Instagram and immediately I knew what I wanted. It was the warmth I was looking for and my room agreed. Crazy, I know! Fortunately for me, I had not purchased anything for the room. I am a procrastinator, but this time it worked to my advantage. Are you ready for my inspiration and final plans?

Notice the rug is staying. It has been my inspiration all along, and I was focusing on the dark blues instead of the terra cotta. I will be adding built-ins on one whole wall, painting the rest including the ceiling with that beautiful terra cotta color. Some things are yet to be finalized, because I cannot work with my back facing the door, the desk placement is a challenge. The built-ins are not deep enough for a desk either. I will keep you posted as we go. You can also follow along on Instagram.

  1. First blog comment everrrrrr lol

I love where this is headed Gaby! That’s the best part about rugs like this right? You can pull so many different colors from it. I love that you’re pulling the terra cotta tones out. The mid tones are going to be so pretty.
